VOICE OF THE NATION (2017)

Voice of the Nation is a short film set in 1980s East Berlin.

One day, three filmmakers find themselves on the other side of the wall, held in a Stasi prison. They have a choice; to be charged for their crimes, or be free in East Berlin living a communist life whilst producing propaganda films for the GDR.

This film was my graduate production at The University of Greenwich, on which I had the privilege of taking on both production design and costume design.

With East Germany having such a distinctive look I knew I had a mammoth task ahead of me. I wanted to ensure authenticity across the entirety of the film, to respect those who lived during that time period.

I learned so much during the course of making this film, in regards to both my design skills and the history of East and West Germany. The project really pushed me to produce my best work and allowed me to prove to myself I can take on this role and I can rise to a challenge.

The whole film is currently unavailable to view however, we do have a trailer which can be found here, as well as more information about the film.
