HOUSEWIFE (2017)
Housewife is a story about independence. Rani's husband does not believe a woman should work and that it is the man's job to provide.
Set in the 90s, the film follows Rani as she discovers a unique means of gaining financial independence. By hosting Tupperware parties, she grows in confidence and learns that she has more potential in life than just being trapped at home as a housewife.
For this production, I took on the roles of both production designer and costume designer. It was a really exciting project and I felt honoured to be asked to be a part of it, as it is based on the story of the director's (Curtis McMullan) mother.
Period pieces are probably my favourite projects to design as they has such a distinctive look and, part of what I love about designing is the research that goes into enhancing the visuals. I love learning about things I have never heard about before and all of the little things that accompany the larger subject matter.
